Canon 100 400mm
Looking for a good long zoom for Canon 400D?

I use a Canon 400D – now with 18 to 200mm lens f3.5-6.3 Sigma 50mm f1.4 and a canon for portraits. Am looking for a powerful zoom, especially for wildlife photography (but also for some sports). I am considering either the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM and Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM I know the 100-400 is a better goal, but I'm worried about the size and weight – especially since only riding on a 400D 100-400. Is it the 400D well built enough to handle it?

Yes you will be able to use the 100-400 on a 400D. I wouldnt recommend not supporting the lens with one hand, and if you hold it for a long period of time definitely hold the tripod ring. If you are going to get that lens that perhaps would also recommend a monopod. You do not need an expensive, I bought one for 30 USD. It will stop your arm is tired and put full weight on the tripod collar. Of the two the 100-400 is definitely better.

Selecting the optical camera

Selecting the optical camera

R. Dodge Woodson

Lenses are used with the camera are essential components of its system of photography. Cheap glasses are never a bargain. glasses low cost less to produce images. You do not have to pay thousands of dollars for anti-distortion lenses to get good images, but do not expect from a target of $ 89.95 bought any sale. Photography is a hobby expensive. If you want to play, you pay.

Fisheye Objective

fisheye can be very fun to work with him. They allow you to create great special effects. However, there are many practical reasons. Of all the glasses at your disposal, the fisheye lens is the least important.

The lenses are measured by the focal length. It is measured in millimeters. The higher the rating is, the more impressive is a lens. For example, a 16mm lens has a much wider than a 50mm lens. When he returns the State fisheye, your images have a point of view throughout the year. No longer will resemble typical photos. You can use this creative aspect your advantage.

Often, people are captivated by the images made with a fisheye lens. The reason is simple. Fisheye photographs are different. Everyone pulling with a fisheye lens to attract attention. The disadvantage is that part of the object will be distorted. It is both the appeal and inconvenience of fisheye lenses.

Wide angle lenses

wide-angle lenses are useful for a number of situations photograph. If you like take panoramic photos, a 24mm lens is an excellent choice. This objective will include a large amount of coverage of your photos. Unlike an objective fisheye lens, wide angle lens produces images that are essentially normal. Perspective can lose in the super wide shots, but the overall effect is pleasant.

You do not have to hunt landscapes benefit of a wide-angle. If you've always wanted a large group of people in a single image, wide angle lens can help. Whenever you want to take pictures of a huge subject will be a good time to use a wide angle lens.

A 24mm lens is approximately the same amount of a wide-angle lens, you can use without distortion distraction. It is my favorite wide angle lens, but some people prefer 28mm lens. You will not catch as much of a scene with this objective, but the distortion is less than what is experienced with a 24mm objective. Many photographers opt for a 35mm lens to meet your needs at wide angle. It is a useful purpose, and is not a bad compromise, but it can cover almost everything you can with a 24mm lens.

The best way for you to determine what types of wide-angle lens is best for you is going to a camera store and try out. With an SLR, which is what we speak, what you see is what you get. Try different focal lengths to see which suit you best. There is no better way to compare lenses to try one after another on the same subject.

Normal lenses

A 50mm lens is considered normal. This target is supposed to represent the world in the same perspective as the human eye sees, photographically speaking. There are very few occasions when a 50mm lens is ideal to use. Its focal length is too long to work in wide angle and telephoto too short to work.

A good thing about a 50mm lens is that it is not expensive compared to other objectives. According to the announcements mail order, you can buy an auto-focus, 50mm lens of a brand recognized the camera for less than $ 75. How lenses so cheap is rare, especially when it is new and has a capacity for self-focus.

If you buy Camera 35 mm which is sold without a goal, you can buy a 50mm lens to reduce costs while getting their feet wet in the hobby of photography. Personally, I think Should I invest more money and get a zoom lens that can give you more features and benefits. There is nothing wrong with having a goal 50 mm, but once they have zoom lenses or a combination of fixed focal length lens, I doubt that you have a great use for "normal" lens.

super telephoto

Can you imagine spending more than a goal that some people pay for a car? Well, there are lenses with price tags that are competing with cars. The last time I looked, 600 mm, 4.0 glass for my brand product sold in 7600 $. A target of 300 mm was 2.8 for about $ 4100. In However, the price of these lenses is steep, and some lenses costing much more.

You buy a telephoto lens at a reasonable price, if you are willing to sacrifice a quick release. In other words, if you're ready to work with slow shutter speeds when lighting is low, you can achieve a goal more for your money. For example, could not no name brand 100-300mm for under $ 130. A Canon ® 100-300 zoom is a little under $ 300. What is the difference between optical zoom of 300 mm to $ 130 and a lens 300 mm set at $ 4,100? About $ 3,970! The large difference in the field is the minimum opening. target price operates in the 2.8 and the target cheaper works with a sliding opening number from 5.7 to 6.7. Put simply, the lens requires much more light than to take the picture face them on the same lighting conditions. You can set a faster speed in the camera, but it can create "noise" affects Image Search. And, the lens has glass elements much better in clearer images. This may not seem like much difference, but may be that some photographers.

If you need a lens that enables fast shutter speeds in low light, you you pay it handsomely. Why do you need a quick release? If you were a sports photographer, the fast-moving subjects. To take pictures without blur because of traffic, you need a shutter speed. On a beautiful sunny day, it would not be a problem with most lenses. However, a cloudy day could begin to slow lenses unnecessary. If you live to take pictures in fast motion or low light, must be prepared to pay excessive prices for your computer.

How long

How long of a lens needed? Depends what you do with him. A 200mm lens is very effective for many types of telephoto work. With a 300mm lens will allow you to take the photo itself as you can with a 200mm lens, but not as close to your subject. Few amateur photographers have objectives that are more than 300 mm.

If you take Photographs of wildlife or elusive Similar issues are difficult to deal with a long lens may be necessary. Some photographers use lenses of a very long time. The lenses of 400mm, 500mm, 600mm and ranges are all common facilities with professional wildlife photographers. However, you can do lot with a 300 mm lens if you learn the habits of animals sufficient to anticipate and hide.

Experimentation

Know what you want or need may require a little experimentation. You can buy used equipment or lens cheap to get an idea of what they do. Once you settle on the specific lens that you know is going to use, sell cheap and old lenses and buy the best lenses you can you can meet their desires.

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM or Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM EF. What should I buy?

I understand the advantages and disadvantages of each. Help me decide please!

It really depends on its content. If you photograph models or indoor sports, the 70-200 mm f / 2.8 is the best option. If you're shooting sports outdoors or wildlife, the 100-400 mm would be what you want. choice of the objective is to see more questions with the shooting, and not if the lens is impressive.
