What makes this canon 50 mm lens than the kit lens?
I wondered, what makes these lenses: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-Camera-Lens/dp/B00007E7JU/ref=cm_cmu_pg__header different from kit lens 18-55mm that comes with the Canon Rebel XS? Is it better? I was looking for something to do portraits good, but mostly not.
The target of 50 mm no catch – which is set at 50 mm. Has an opening larger than 18-55mm lens. This makes it better for use in low light, and is excellent for portraits from large openings given better bokeh (background blur). Not long ago, SLR cameras (film and digital) comes with 50 mm lenses as standard kit lenses.
