Is there a warranty for used cars sold less than $ A1000?

We have been having problems running a decent car <$ A1000. So I wonder if the used car dealer or the sale of Goods Act or something like that provides a guarantee for the cars of this range.

But even I doubt it. Repairs would be worth more than the vehicle. Most vehicles in this range are sold as is. Caveat emptor.
