do I NEED the battery cover for my Canon Powershot camera?

My Canon Powershot camera is not turning on. It has the fully charged battery in it, and it has the little blue SIM as well. They are both inserted correctly.

One of the troubleshooting points is to check that the memory card door and battery door are closed completely if you cannot take pictures.

See if you can find a switch in the door area and see if you can fake the camera in to believing the door is in place and shut.

Cheap replacement battery for camera

Is it worth it to spend $40+ for a genuine Canon battery for a sd600 camera, or will the cheap ebay ones work?

I received this camera , a Canon Powershot SD600, as a gift, and I’d like to have a back-up battery. It won’t be my main one, so I’m tempted to go with the $6 (including shipping) batteries that are on ebay, as opposed to $43 for a real Canon one on amazon. What are the differences?

No a battery is a battery. If it doesnt work your out 6 bucks anyways. I have worked in a camera store for 15 years and I have seen the name brand batterys fail all the time too. I dont think it matters at all.
