What are the best lenses for Canon 400D with less than $ 200?

i currently own the kit lens (18-55mm USM)

Hello, I'd say the kit lens, which in essence is $ 100 (which is usually the difference between the kit and the only option) is not a bad option to start if we have no glass. Another murderer that lens is even cheaper than the 50 mm f/1.8. Everyone who buys a digital SLR camera should be to buy one them. Take a large prime opening is so different from shooting with a slow zoom. For a lens and would not recommend the cheaper options, but you might consider 75-300 USM for about $ 190 in a pinch. A lens that is very well regarded, but had a strange range in a digital SLR like the 400D is the 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 (NOT f/4.0-5.6), but is $ 220, so that could be considered out of reach. You also might consider the 55-200 USM, which complements the kit 18-55 very well and the 28 mm f/2.8 prime as low budget options. It used to be the rule that the glass was always more expensive than the camera body, you will soon find this is the case if you want to get the best picture from your camera. Consider the following lenses if you really want to get the best out of your 400D. Large 17-40 mm f / 4, very well built, great picture, $ 679 Normal 50 mm f/1.4, better build than the 1.8, 2 / 3 of a stop faster. $ 309 Tele 70-200 f / 4, much more pleasant than 75-300 and owns all Canon wet dream white. $ 579 And do not dismiss the f/2.8 macro 100 is $ 450 and has the sharpest image from this side of the lens large format. Small, lightweight, fast Sharp – for $ 100. Canon has done an excellent job with this goal, many photographers have, but how a target of 100 real dollars?

1. Focus

- AF

It is, frankly, fun. Element before the lens moves like crazy and will keep knocking. Sounds like a little bee. It is very fast, good enough for children to run, animals and flowers (which needs of Quick AF does not work?). It is fairly accurate.

- Autofocus

Is it difficult in this. The ring is so small and when I saw the lens I can not manually focus on it. Quickly turn and everything is on the manual approach. Not full-time manual focusing, you must pass the AF / MF button when changing styles of discussion (FTM some goals you can focus Manual AF).

2. Acuity

  • 1. F / 1.8 – soft, not good – in when it is dark and you have to blow
  • 2. F / 2 – still soft, not usable
  • 3. F / 2.8 – big difference, getting a little better
  • 4. F / 4 – well, can be used to obtain good sharpness
  • 5. F / 5.6 – better yet, use when you want the clearest
  • 6. F / 8 – similar to f/5.6, maybe a little clearer.

So, give the best results when used f / 4 – f / 8. f/1.8 is too soft, it is good to create depth of field, but if the flower is sweet .. not good.

The 50mm f/1.4 is much more acute is useful in f / 2. Remember, when you use this camera APS-C, the shutter speed should be 1 / 80 or faster than your photos will not become fuzzy (Shutter Speed> focal length!) (1.6/aps-c Y = 50 x 80 mm). When a full-frame camera, you can use in 1 / 50.

3. Bokeh

Neutral. Nothing special, you can get a cool look a couple of times, but nothing really special.

The farther into the background, appears more diffuse

4. Design

It is a small lens, weighs only 130g. The materials are nothing special, only marginally cheap. But regardless, you can enter normally and works very well. As is $ 100, why wait better materials?
