Canon 28 135 Usm Is
Canon 28-135 or Sigma 18-125mm lens?
Hello, I need som advice on which lens is better than these two, or if there is any better with some lenses the same focal range. I am an amateur photography and want a lens that is a step up from the kit lens and goes a bit further in the zoom. I have done much research and still can not decide. My camera is the Canon EOS XS 1000d/Rebel. So what is to be? Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM or Sigma AF 18-125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC OS HSM if possible, could also explain why you recommend the lens? thanks!
Ni, will replace the kit 18-55 mm lens with a lens worse for that part of the range. The zoom range that have worse picture quality than the kit lens. To improve on the lens kit that you can extend the range up or down or improve the quality of the existing range. A 50mm f/1.4 Prime beat the kit lens's image quality and provide opportunities selective attention (where the subject is strong, but is the blurred background) only a large aperture lens can give. The 'Nifty Fifty' with its 1.6 crop factor cameras turning it into a format 80mm lens 35mm, ideal for portraits. That's an improvement. Another alternative is to extend the focal range of lenses you have with a 70 – 200mm lens or even a 70 – 300mm, they will not be of better quality than the kit lens, but will give the opportunity to telephoto shots. The Sigma 70-300 f4 – F5.6 APO here http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/telezoom/70-300mmAPO.htm This objective has better picture quality than their price suggests, but like all small aperture lenses are a clear target day, the autofocus "hunting" in low light. but the image quality is good, shown here for better http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3599/3568250952_636cbaed1f_o.jpg this can go with a lens which has excellent image quality, fast autofocus and a grand opening, as the Sigma 70-200 mm f2.8 EX 70-200mm.htm http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/lenses/telezoom/ but the price is more than the camera was. The idea of a wide range zoom sounds appealing, but they are sacrificing a lot of image quality for convenience. I Canon Sigma examples given here will make similar examples at a higher price. Chris

When I bought my first Canon Digital Rebel, I spent so much time working on the choice of the target as it has the opportunity to buy a Canon or a Nikon. And believe me, there are many, many lenses to choose from.
Here's my take on the choice of target. If you have a lot of money, achieve several objectives to cover the broad range of shooting opportunities. You will need a wide angle for landscapes, a lens array average for things like portraits and street scenes, and a telephoto lens to capture distant objects. Oh, and also want to get a lens macro dedicated to make the delicate flowers and butterflies.
Again, if money is not important, certainly get Canon "L" lenses. They are the Cadillac of Canon lenses. The "L" lens is glass and the best technology Canon has to offer.
However, if you are on a budget, you'll want to consider a lens that can cover a multitude of situations photograph. There are some excellent choices for a general "Walk" the objective, and not all are made by Canon. Tamron and Sigma make Lenses for Canon cameras and other brands, and have some great goals, too.
Here's a short list of options to walk big lens:
- Tamron AF 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di Zoom – it is a great lens if you plan to take lots of pictures of the family. Zoom range is somewhat limited, but the picture quality is excellent. You get a length of about 75 mm, which is made with 55mm kit, but it lacks a little on the wide end at 28mm instead of 18mm lens kit. You also f/2.8 which means that cases of shooting ultra-fast, and better pictures in low light because the lens allows more light strikes sensor. User Reviews for this purpose in FredMiranda.com are very high at 8.5 out of 10 for a target mark (fredmiranda users tend to be brand snob).
- Tamron AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro – This is a fantastic option if you plan to buy only a target. The 18mm wide-angle is good for the television landscape of 250mm and takes you right next to almost everything. No need to change lenses and lose this opportunity to take photos. FredMiranda.com users have rated this a 8.3 out of 10, which is pretty good for a glass of the mark. It is available for Canon and Nikon.
- Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM with Image Stabilizer – Canon has been promoting this objective because the objective the kit on some of their cameras. It is a walk around the thin lens, providing high image quality and a great zoom range (about 5 times). Autofocus is very fast, and IS (Image Stabilizer) is very useful especially in low light when the shutter speed is dropped to the offset light. You can survive without a tripod in most situations, because of the IS.
If you are buying your first DSLR camera, consider getting the body only and substituting one of these lenses for the kit lens. These lenses all sell for less than $500, which in the world of good quality camera lenses is quite attractive. Buying a great walk around lens for your new DSLR is an important step. Make sure you check the comparison at http://www.digital-photographic-resources.com before you buy.
Happy Shooting!
Any lens choice?
My work is mostly indoors, portraits and landscapes sometimes .. if I use the Most people recommend the Canon 40D Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L, but in reality I see is going to cost more than the camera! thinknig me the Canon EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM .. What do you think? or is there another alternative that does not know?
The Canon EF 28-135 is an excellent goal, I have it on my camera almost 90% of the time. The main invesntment photography is the goal, it would be useful to record and get the 24-70 f/2.8L, strong and fast for the best photographs of interiors. The 28-135 is good, not too fast, is strong, you need to use a tripod inside, even with the society is still not fast enough to keep the hand inside.
