Canon 450d Lens
Upgrade Lens for Canon 450D?

I need a moderatly priced upgrade lens for the Canon 450D that I’m thinking of buying. I’m thinking about the 17-85mm due to the useful range. But is the image quality much better that the 18-55mm IS kit lens that comes with the Canon 450D?

According to http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Canon%20EOS%20Lens%20Tests/45-canon-eos-aps-c/179-canon-ef-s-17-85mm-f4-56-usm-is-test-report–review

the verdict said “So at the end of the day the lens is a tad better than the cheapo EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 but it can’t really compete with the new EF-S 18-55m f/3.5-5.6 IS or the EF 17-40mm f/4 USM L.”

Camera 500D – Better Or Worse Than The 450D?

I “traded” my 450D the 500D cons about 6months ago and that is basically my conclusions.

– Big improvement in sensitivity. I think the noise management is very good. The photos are superb at 1600iso; above the noise starts to appear but it is reasonable. In general, the new sensor provides a real plus.

– I preferred the grip of the 450D, position of buttons and operation, but it’s really a matter of habit.

– What about video? It’s just a gimmick but fun to both other. The quality is good but the autofocus is not good and very noisy (and you can hear on video of course) so I’m making videos in manual focus. This requires a little practice since the ownership of the device is not suitable. Another negative point of the video, and live view in general (not so useful eventually) is that it empties the battery at full speed. If you use more stabilized zoom, prepare spare batteries.

In conclusion I am satisfied with my purchase, but disappointed by the live view, and rather amused by the video but it does not replace a camcorder.

Camera 500D – Excellent Product

Excellent quality / price as usual. Thank you Amazon.
Need we say more. Tests conducted on sites specializing in talking the better. It fits perfectly with my use, as an amateur.

Beyond that all functions have almost APN is the ergonomics could tip the balance. In my case the camera is comfortable and much better than the 400D and 450D. It is light. Only regret the grip, a little too tight to take if you have giant hands. But it is cleared through the leather cover that prevents the camera to slip from the hands, unlike 1000D

Camera 500D – Perfect For My Use

I wanted to go SLR. Having had several years ago a reflex silver Canon has slept in a cupboard with the profile of a simple digital camera, for purely economic price of film and developments. But the difference in picture quality had always said that I would return to the reflex one day. The opportunity presented itself. I was informed in relation to use my very amateur photography, while still wishing to have their hands in something sturdy. Special friends called me one, so among other things you can re-use the Canon telephoto lens that I drive the silver. By cons I was clearly told to take the pack with 18-55 bcp that is more optimized for digital that would have been my silver 18-55.

There are currently served quepour photos of parties, but the result is perfect. We are thinking now to make purchases to complete (Flash. ..).
