Standard memory card for Canon Powershot A2000IS?

Then I read some stories online before asking here, but nothing has been really explain my problem! Now, here's the thing, I had a memory card in it long and keep reusing, and now many important pictures, Christmas Day 2009, which suddenly said "memory card error", I quickly put another memory card and it worked well, I tried to bring the oldest and it is said: "Memory card error" again. So I suppose the old memory card is broken, without certainly how I used (it was probably a year or two), but can not access photos on the memory card i do not work? How? I'm Awaiting your picture possible and these are very important!
