best camera lense for a starter?

what is the best camera lense (size) for a starter? for a canon eos rebel k2?

I agree with the first answerer. I own the Canon 50mm f/1.8 and it is a fantastic piece of glass for the price. I believe I paid around $90 including shipping for mine earlier this year.

One benefit of this lens (or a similar lens) is that it’s a prime lens, meaning it doesn’t zoom. While this may sound like an inconvenience, it will do a great job of teaching you how to compose your shots without relying on having to zoom. It sounds simple but it’s very helpful.

Another reason I recommend this lens is because of it’s very wide max aperture. f/1.8 will give you a very blurry background which will draw attention to your subject.

Lenses that come packaged with cameras (often called kit lenses) usually have a good zoom range, but lack the quality of prime lenses and higher quality zoom lenses. Another problem of kit lenses is that they usually do not feature a very wide maximum aperture. This can lead to having to use higher ISOs to compensate for the lack of light, which will cause grainy pictures.

Hope this helps!
