What is the difference between the canon cameras?

I wonder what, if any, the difference is between the Canon EOS 500D Digital SLR, and Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR T1i. I am looking for a good digital SLR for under £ 500 so any suggestions are welcome! I am looking for no less 12 megapixels, so … thanks!

In Europe and elsewhere, the names of Canon cameras, entry-level 450D, 500D etc, but in America North are rebels, XSi, etc T1i So the only difference. They are the same camera, but called different things in Europe and North America.

I was given a Canon EOS Rebel T1i (500D) Digital SLR Kit w/EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, for the holidays, I would love to get at least one to two more leses for it, how do I go about choosing what to get next?

If you want to shoot WILD animals then a longer lens would seem a good idea.
