Can anyone help me with a Canon EOS XS?

I have some questions … 1. Can anyone tell me how to change the F stop on this camera? 2. What are the ideal settings for photographing children outside? 3. What are the good books for beginners with a digital SLR? I've heard of Understanding Bryan Petersen exposure and plan to get one. THANK YOU!

The number two is a bit different. Unlike P & S cameras that have pre-programmed "adjustments" for lighting certain shooting situations DSLR to give the user the option to control all aspects of the exhibition, so really the "best" options for shooting outdoors young children are those who find the best for you and your style of shooting … Just remember to set the white balance for bright sunlight, cloudy or shadow depending on the source of light.
