Canon Digital Slr Cameras On Sale
Camera Question?
I have decied at last to go digital. My SLR, Canon Elan (I think) has served well. I was told that Canon has new D40 on the way. The D30 is “on sale” now at much less cost than D40.
Does anyone know what makes the D40 a bettr camera than the D30? I use a 35-185 “shake proof” lens.
Advice from your knowledge/experience is appreciated

In digital SLR cameras, which is better: Sony or Canon?
I have very little experience with these things and Sony and Canon both offer one at the same price of 450, and they are both 10 mp. The canon one was like 600 but it on sale. Both have awesome reviews, but I am wondering if brand has anything to do with it. So far, I am leaning towards the Canon.
Also, what are some important things I should look at before making a choice?
Okay I hope I didn’t read it wrong, but the canon one said this about the “lens focal length” – 18-55mm
and the Sony was – 35mm equivalent 27-82.5mm
I also like to mention I found a Nikon with similar specs at the same price: Nikon D3000 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
Thank you to everyone so far, you have all been helpful!
There are a number of good brands so don’t be sold on the idea one brand is better than another. Research the models that provide the feature you need and like most.
I would get a DSLR with a short zoom (like a 18-55mm) to start. No reason to spend more than $425 to $550. Either a 10MP or 12MP (MP means mega pixel) will do just fine.
Here are some models that I think are well worth researching:
Nikon D3000 10MP DSLR Digital Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens – $490
EOS Rebel XS 10MP DSLR Digital Camera Kit (Black) with 18-55mm IS Lens – $449
Pentax K-x 12MP DSLR with 18-55mm Zoom (has HD Video also) – $550
A link listed below is to a web page that lists the 3 DSLR cameras I am recommending. This list will let you compare features and specs, also it has links to reviews of the cameras, the reviews include sample images from the cameras.
If you certain you are down to those 2 brands, then I lean toward the Canon.
Hope this helps.
