Can you recommend a macro lens for Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR camera?

I need it really urgently. I want a macro lens to take pictures of some errors and flowers for my course. I have no idea what I need from specifications, etc. I know basically nothing about this. Many thanks to all responded.

The Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro is a great lens. Runs about $ 500 used, however. I rented one and was amazed at some of the photos I have with this objective. There is also a 60mm which is a little cheaper, but in my opinion really wants long focal length for insects and flowers you plan on taking photo. Good luck.

The top entry level SLRs are rated Nikon D40, D60 and D80 and the Canon XTi and XSI. The best you can do is try everything in a store, you know what you like. Personally, I love them all, but a little thin at the Canon XSi. But it is a matter of what you like and what you want to invest in a camera. The D40 is cheaper and still a favorite for a reflex input.
