What digital SLR camera would be best for beginners?

I know it'sa cliché, but I'm looking for a camera that will give me larger images without much effort. My price range is between $ 500 and $ 1000 and just want to get the best camera for my money. I've heard some rumors about the new Panasonic Lumix, but my first instinct is a Nikon or Canon. Is it safe to get away from the mainstream … any suggestions?

Sony A200 $ 499 18-70mm lens. Use the rest of its budget to buy lenses and accessories, like a bag, flash etc. all Do not blow your budget on an expensive camera body! Go shopping Minolta AF lenses on eBay that are selling cheap but excellent results. Minolta AF have the same mount as the Sony because Sony bought Minolta. Age 20 goals Minolta AF function well in the A200, I have these old Minolta AF, as 35-70mm 70-210mm f4 and f4. Also I have 10 years of age and Sigma 24mm f2.8 Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro. Superb dirt on the lenses of low prices on eBay and fully functional with Sony cameras. I have an expensive new Sony 50mm f/1.4, but you can get the Minolta 50mm f1.7 good price on eBay instead. Lenses make great photographs, not the camera.
