Buy my first digital SLR which accessories are needed?

Im saving for my first digital SLR (canon xsi) I'm thinking of buying the that comes with the kit 18-55 IS lens. I know I need a memory card (thinking of getting a concert of eight), but what other accessories should I be planning buy? Trying to get an idea of how much they need to save. Thanks

In addition to its basic camera / lens / memory card: 1) another card memory. Trust me, you need it. And a high-speed USB 2.0 reader. 2) a Canon flash (waaay better than the pop-up flash of the camera). 3) a course in photography, so you know how to use your camera and take pictures. 4) a light but sturdy tripod. (Do not get a tripod for your video, it will be too heavy and too great to take it anywhere.) 5) for printing: printer, ink and photo paper. 6) a telephoto zoom (ie, 55-200mm IS) for telephoto shots. 7) a larger monitor 8) editing software such as Photoshop Elements, you are not satisfied with the software included with the camera. I am not one of those people who believe filters for protection and last week I read a story about someone with a filter to protect the lens … only the crystal filter, when it broke, which is damaged the front element. For protection, stick with a lens cap and hood and only use a filter in hostile environments such as salt spray and blowing sand. The filter one I do recommend is a circular polarizer, which should be used when you want to do blue skies a deeper blue, to have the glow water / glass and intensify the colors. There is a general purpose filter. What you get should be up to their needs, so do not go crazy at first. After holding the camera, you can find what you're missing and what I like to do. Then you can buy in smaller chunks, rather than blowing all your money on a lot of material, can or can not meet their real needs.

What is the difference between these two devices?

Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital SLR Camera with EFS 18-55mm IS Lens – Canon Digital Rebel black Chrome XT SLR Body Kit with EFS 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens? What is the best?

Http: / / forums.photographyreview.com / showthread.php? T = 48 327 has an eye on this forum. More answers are inclined to the XS and other big advantage is the list two above you, the XS is the purpose of image stabilization is an advantage in the bottom of the light levels or hand with a maximum zoom. I have both the 28-300L and 400L-100 are the objectives and the results are superb. Good luck in whatever you choose.
