What is the best digital SLR for me?

For a year or two I used my parents camera, a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi, and I've loved the result until a few months ago, i focus on animals and plants, so it's going to exhibitions of horses, and the last was indoors, and I kept getting either unstained dark images, or images and cereals with greater blur. Only a select few was decent. They were all in the trash. I checked the opening all n, using every setting, I got mixed results, but none worked. Im probably one intermediate, and I'm really starting to come into the ISO and aperture and such, but I know what I'm doing. Im looking for something that is durable, has good shots of action, and has a point-n-shoot. Maybe video. Im just looking for the camera n come with lenses, and perhaps in the coming years n so ill buy a macro. Any ideas? My max. amount of expenditure would be $ 850, if that.
