What camera would be best for a novice photographer?

I'm a novice photographer and do not know much about cameras, but I am very interested in photography. I plan on taking experience and such, but the first step is to get a camera. A session of shooting digital photos of airplanes in an air show

A few weeks ago I went with my friends to see a show air. Calendar was packed with acrobatics and many types of aircraft. The highlight of the show was the blue angles with their jets to routines dangerous. I took my camera hoping to capture some good digital memories of this exhibition.

What is my best option for a point n shoot digital SLR?
