Choosing A Camera, A Comparison
More than a dozen years ago, when I was about to buy my brand new camera for the first time, I was trapped to pick-up one camera from the five camera options I had. The first one was the Yashica T-4 Super D. This is a 35mm camera with fixed focal lenses. It weighted 6 oz and being sold at the price of $169. I already heard that Yashica T-4 Super D was the unrivaled bargain; uncomplicated and durable; and also has extra viewfinder for shooting from high and low angles.
The second was Olympus Stylus Zoom 115 DLX. This was also a 35mm type camera, but with zoom lense (38-115mm). Weighing 8.6 oz, Olympus sold this camera at $473. The third option was Nikon N50. As a 35mm SLR, this camera weighted 6.4 oz and worthed $535. Many friends of mine told me that this camera was the best option I got since it was designed for amateurs and also has an interchangeable lens (35-80mm, f/4-f 5.6).
Another option I had was also Olympus. The type of this one was Olympus D-220L. As an early camera in digital era, this one weighted 9.2 oz and its store priced was $499. This camera was currently the best bet and the top photo quality for camera in its price range. It could stores up to 80 photos in its memory and could even holds more with removable memory card.
The last option was Canon ELPH 490Z. With its cool, sleek design, this camera is fully loaded, with a wide-range zoom lens (22.5-90mm), and still not bigger than our palm. This product had 10.2 oz weight and priced at $590.
Although at the end of the day I bought the Canon, I remembered how hard it was for me to decide which one to be bought. The resources were so little and the features of each camera were almost the same. But at this time, when I have to choose again which camera I should buy for my family, I don’t have any problem at all to make up my mind. I knew that what I am going to buy is Nikon 1 J1. This camera was especially created by Nikon, Japan, technology to meet today’s expectations for imaging and to satisfy all needs of picture taking. More than that Nikon 1 J1 has combined the most advanced functions of simplicity and universally intuitive with unparalleled image quality.
