However one of the greatest benefits with digital camera is indeed the advanced technology, some technology now within cameras can detect faces, stamp out the shake of a persons hand to prevent blurry pictures and take pictures automatically when your subject smiles.

The future

Simply put, digital cameras are the future. Companies are investing millions into their digital models as they know this is what the majority of the market wants. Therefore advanced technology will always be released within digital models and eventually within time film cameras will be made obsolete.

Should I get a Canon Rebel T2i or a Canon 7D?

I have $1,300 and I want to buy a camera. I can either buy a Canon Rebel T2i that will be all my own, or have a partnership with my father and split the cost 50/50 for a Canon 7D. I feel that I will have more freedom with the T2i but then again, the 7D has more features, and the weather resistant magnesium body. Do the Dual DIGIC 4 processors in the 7D make that much of a difference compared to the single DIGIC 4 processor in the T2i? I won’t be shooting 8fps photos but I am wondering if quality will be lacking with the single processor in the Rebel. I’m only a teen and this will be my first DSLR camera. I am upgrading from a Canon Powershot Digital Elph SD790 IS. I’m going to be using the camera for shooting short films and a slight bit of photography.

If your primary concern is image quality and its your first DSLR, save your money and buy a Rebel T2i so you can buy better lense. The T2i and 7D have nearly identical imaging sensors so you’ll lose nothing with respect to image quality by choosing the Rebel T2i. Thesecond Digic 4 image processor in the 7D is specifically meant to provide the processing power required to keep up with the cameras eight frame per second continuous shooting speed and does nothing to improve image quality. Again, if image quality is your priority, you may want to devote a portion of your budget to lenses better than those offereded as “kit” lenses with either camera body.
