Memory card help?!?

I have a Canon Powershot SD 1000 is Digital Elph I just bought a Sandisk GB WalMart yesterday. But how I can know when it format? And what memory card 1 GB is better plain itself? Where to buy?

In general, most cards come pre-formatted. You only need to format the card regularly and only after having endorsed the photos or moved to another storage medium as a CD or hard disk. Cards themselves are not the format, you have to do that with a camera or computer. In general, I like the SanDisk brand memory cards, in particular The SanDisk Extreme III cards are the best. Get your card from a reputable store like Newegg http://www.newegg.com and avoid eBay, because of all the fakes out there.
