What would be the best digital SLR?

I want to get an SLR for my photography classes in school. Specifications only given is that it should be 35 mm (full movie) and the manual. I was thinking that a digital SLR would be good cos you can also manually use (I think) … Therefore, I wondered about the Canon EOS 5D and Canon EOS 550D. I would like to know the approximate price and features. I am open to other suggestions. Thanks

a 35mm camera is not a digital SLR. 35 mm is a type of film. "Full Movie" is a term that makes sense but as has been suggested, might have meant "big picture." a full frame dslr costs several thousand dollars and is reserved for professional use and it is unlikely that the class requires that! full frame of 35mm film, however, are common and very cheap. I suggest you buy at a local camera store, or BHPhoto.com KEH.com. 35 mm full frame fully manual cameras that I think are good for students are: FM Nikon Pentax K1000 you buy, be sure to get an objective 50mm with it, not a zoom. zoom are difficult to begin to learn about and for the price, do not take as high quality photos. Pentax 50mm Nikon 50mm 1.7 and 1.8 are high quality lenses at reasonable prices, but can be used in modern dslr to move to the purchase of one of them. These cameras can be purchased for between $ 150 and $ 250 with 50 mm lens. i own and have used many of these cameras over the years and these are the most reliable and easy to learn / use in full manual mode any i others have tried. just be sure not to buy on eBay or somewhere with no warranties.
