Canon Eos 7d Camera Body

Can anyone help me with an important treatment target problem?
I just received my first telephoto lens is a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM II and I use a Canon EOS 7D. What I know is: 1 – CAM can be maintained with one hand without destroying anything? (Otherwise said, one hand on the camera body and nothing in the lens). 2 – You must use a tripod?
1) You risk nothing but the weight will be difficult maintain. More in the absence (in) balance – on a tripod that combination you on the neck of the target, not the body. It simply asks because of camera shake blur … The image stabilization can compensate accordingly. 2) If you plan to use a tripod full-time could have bought the 70-200 f/2.8 no more cheap-IS. The goal was to keep handy portable tool. As always, however, if you time and space by using a tripod, the addition of support may provide better results. Especially in the long end of zoom.
