Canon Rebel XSi – Great Beginner dslr, features, hardware, etc.

I bought this book as a Christmas present for me, including the 18-55 IS kit. I had a lot of P & S cameras – Casio, Canon, Nikon, etc., but decided it was time to move to a digital SLR – and cheaply. I took about 500 pictures so far – with flash, the commands manual to automatic mode, almost all already.

The body of the camera – very solid construction. I read some critics who have criticized the use of plastic on metal, but I really think plastic is great. I am sure that the fall could damage somehow but the plastic feels very strong and does not flex at all in the body. Each compartment is opened and closed tight with some resistance this which gives a feeling very stable. The buttons all feel great news. The shutter is very robust and has an excellent response by the press. The housing the device is a good size for me. I'm taller than average, but the giant did not and my hands are pretty good companies and even the smallest body in this place (compared to the 40, 50 D, etc.) feels good. My only complaint is that sometimes I get tired in my right little finger of the right of the camera. I'm sure in the coming weeks I will address what the experience of new ways to hold the camera with ease. In general the casing is sturdy and feels very well made.

Features – Wide dissemination. I have a Canon G9 which has already a fairly complete set of features, but the ultimate control manual for Canon Rebel XSi lets me feel much more connected to this unit. Auto mode seems work well. I'm not experienced with SLRs larger or more elegant, so this way I think is very good – the autofocus flash and everything. The manual mode allows maximum control of almost everything. I love taking night shots with long exposure and the Canon Rebel XSi allows up 30 seconds of exposure or development function. The results are outside the big box, but I am sure that the post-treatment of certain cereals that the results can be clarified.

Features – The images are very clear to the kit lens compared my G9. Although both are 12MP, the Canon Rebel XSi in a culture of 100% is much clearer. Now, do not worry zoom in as far as I can – in knowing they will be able to cut a bigger, closer to the image in the future if I want. The flash is adequate and has a great time to refresh fast. Also I have a Canon 220EX which is a bit more powerful (but not much), but has an update much faster time. In burst mode on the Canon Rebel XSi I can take twice as long and 1.5 times faster with the 220EX, which could really be useful. I want to invest in an external flash, but for every day of the shooting versions to a fine. The autofocus is fast in my experience so far and is very accurate. It is much faster than the G9, even in low light. Under the light does slow down a bit, but not bad at all.

Kit Lens (18-55) - As I said this is my first SLR, it does not take much knowledge of lenses, but this is pretty good, not great. The zoom is fairly basic – on my G9, but a wider angle to start, I find most useful. Who will end up investing in a Canon zoom is probably a greater scope, but for now, is a good thing it starts. It This is a fast lens and image stabilization seems to help, he can not fully informed about it. I miss distance to the manual focus ring on the (close to infinity, etc.) as is sometimes confusing to see how I'm concentrating on. In general a good goal, and certainly worth the price of the kit, if you are a beginner.

Battery - The battery is great. I took nearly 600 shots of the first truckload Moreover, many of which have been flash and the battery is only a step down. Obviously, this decrease over time, but it looks great.

Complaints:
1. The size is good, but takes a little getting used to. not really a complaint, but said it will take some time to find a comfortable grip at all.
2. Watch Live sucks. I love to shoot through the eyepiece, but only using the live view, even for fun, it is disconcerting and slow and bad. If you have a tripod to be very good, but not otherwise not buy this camera if you need to live. I wanted the Canon Rebel XSi, as had seen live, but now I realize that I prefer to use eyepiece. It is good to know that the live view is there if I need it, but I can not see me more than 1-2% of the time.
3. Battery almost impossible to open door. I do not know why – it could be mine, but I think that's the way it was designed. I have to use a tip of a pencil or a knife butter, with my finger to drag and outside.
4. The lack of video camera – I know, I know – it's a reflex. But I Ashton Kutcher since Nikon has announced its HD video mode, and I must say that it would be nice to have here. I feel the 500D or other Rebel again Canon installs. But I wish that he had.
