Some of the black on the lens of a Canon IXUS 120 got scratched off, is there anyway to cover it up back up?
I borrow my family’s digital camera for Reading and the black on the lens got scratched off at some point and now part of it’s silver and my parents will freak out (despite the camera working fine) so anyone know a way to cover the silver up back to black?
I don’t think there is any way you can completely remove the damage. The black is produced by a chemical etching before the camera is assembled, and you don’t want to be applying those acidic chemicals to a camera. Nor do you want paint anywhere near the works The only thing possible is to darken the scratched area with a black marker, being careful to keep the ink where you want it. If there is any possibility of grit being in the mechanism in for example a retractable lens mechanism then it’s a job for the repair shop and £100 or so.
