Sensitivity of digital camera: ISO
Traditionally ISO (which means the International Organization for Standardization) was an indication of the sensitivity of film to light. Today ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor digital camera. Photos taken at lower ISO need good lighting, but produce images with minimal "noise" (which occurs when the image sensor captures one pixel color incorrectly due to low light conditions). In general, using an ISO setting also means faster shutter speeds.
With an image sensor of high sensitivity, IXUS 300 SA, reduces the amount of noise at all ISO speeds and is one of the most technically advanced machine in the Canon rel = "nofollow" href = "http://www.canon.com.au/For-You/Digital-Cameras/IXUS-Digital-Cameras"> IXUS range.
The choice of the standard ISO settings right
- AUTO ISO – most cameras Digital has the ability to automatically select the best sensitivity of existing lighting conditions. Always a reliable option if you're not sure.
- ISO 80 – Superb picture quality, but requires a bright light outdoors, ideal for landscapes and outdoor portraits.
- ISO 100 – requires light conditions or for a bit cloudy.
- ISO 200 – and in cloudy conditions.
- ISO 400 – The minimum for taking pictures indoors.
- ISO 800 and up – dark conditions, these adjustments usually result a considerable amount of noise in images.
