Help with taking pictures of shiny jewelry?
I'm taking pictures of some jewelry from a website. I'm not very experienced with taking pictures and images of these jewels are not working for me. I am using a lamp and lighting shop with Boat Lamp Table 60W light bulbs (daylight), not so common here in the United Kingdom. I use this camera http://www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/canon-ixus-70.cfm I have a macro setting. but blury images or not fast enough. The camera is not enough for the job? and how the position of the light? from the front opening Store? the top of the bank or to the right or left? or it takes more than a light? All advice will be useful.
Only metals and diamond jewelry business is relatively easy to turn, but you need the right team, a light support (never use light boxes for photography, jewelry) and any decent SLR camera with a minimum of 105 mm macro will do. Although for the bracelets and necklaces, you need lenses with tilt and shift (Very hard to find though). jewelry and colored gemstones are designer pieces, but a completely different story and I doubt you'll be able to get good results quickly. You must be willing to invest a large money in each edition + start or not to invest in 3D, which extends over 50-100GBP per item. You can consider a Imagedome (which is about £ 3,000), at least Nikon D200 and a range of micro and lens tilt and many more experiments and tests. If you are interested in images high quality, you can sort your photos into 3D reverse. I do not know any company that manufactures in the United Kingdom, but you can chat with people <http://www.fameo.co.uk> Fame, as they use this technique at least for the posters and sone complicated. It is not good equipment: * Camera (Canon PowerShot) that you use now is not good. * The light and the lamp 60W Shop is not good. Good team: * Nickon D200 (or any other Nickon reflex elsewhere) Organization * AF-S Micro-Nikkor 60mm (good macro lens for most jewelry thre) * Nikon PC Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D particular perspective (tilt and objective to shift used for bracelets and necklaces) * digital imaging system ImageDome Gemvision (which was excluded that the only have is to put it on Ebay) * Kit Cubelite Light Table (good for big jewelry, but must be stimulated by additional tungsten lights)
