How do I know that the camera(canon) is genuine and hasn’t been used before?

I currently reside in China and there is a huge amount of fake merchandise on the market, so i need to be able to tell whether or not the product is genuine, eg a hologram in a certain place etc. Its also not unknown for chinese merchants put showcase appliances back into retail packaging and sell it as an unused, new product. is there any way to tell that the camera, canon ixus series, hasn’t seen the light of day since it left the factory? In case your wondering im preparing to buy one fairly soon…helps to do your homework here in China…

Go to authorized Canon dealer and secure a warranty card. Or if you close to Hong Kong, better go and buy from Hong Kong. It’s also cheaper to buy cameras in Hong Kong.
