Canon Ixus Lens Jam

Who wants to buy a good compact digital camera?

I searched the web for some time to decide which camera to buy with my birthday money (which is tomorrow:)). I reduced to a couple, the Nikon S51 / S51c or Canon, the IXUS 75 (PowerShot SD750). I wonder what is the best camera. I am open to suggestions, with the exception of Olympus. I had a Stylus 710 and the lens completely stuck. A retractable lens would be better without. Thank you:)

I would consider Canon SD750 IS SD850 instead. SD850 has image stabilization which is very useful in low light.
