What is the difference between the number of Canon Powershot Series Canon Ixus?

I am thinking of buying a digital camera, but am not sure that is worth the investment. I'm not a professional photographer.

Sony Cybershot or Canon Powershot, IXUS?

What is the best between these two? I used to have a cyberspace, I given to someone and now I have to buy a new one. Cyberspace remember to take great pictures of intricate details, but sometimes be blurred. Why get blurry images? Does this happen with the cannon as well? What brand should I contact? Sony Cybershot cameras are very pleasant to eye while the Canon cameras are not as attractive. I'm confused. Please help. Thank you.
