Canon Ixus User Guide
How do I get a blurry background with Canon ixus 90?
I just got a canon Ixus 90 and I’m not good with any of the settings.
There isn’t any explanation of individual settings in the user guide, so I’m lost.
I was told by a friend that you are able to get that effect in which just one object is on focus and the rest is blurry, but I have no idea in how to do it.
I read things about the aperture etc, but that doesn’t make much sense to me especially without any kind of explanations in how to set it.
Anyone might be able to help?
Being an auto-focus, point and shoot camera, I am not sure that you can. If it is possible you will want to set your aperture (f-stop) to the lowest possible setting (I think). Look up f-stop in your users manual and see how to adjust it, if lowest doesn’t give you the results try higher.
Also the object in your picture will need to be set closer to the camera or else the background won’t blur much. i.e. someone standing a couple feet in front of a bush and 10′ from the camera, the background wont be very blurred. Now the same person standing 5′ from the camera and 10′ in front of the bush, the background should blur if your settings are correct.
