Hey guys! I am sure you have heard about the Amazon Kindle, a revolutionary electronic reading device that uses e-ink technology. I have personally used many different e-reading devices before but I am here to tell you about a new device from Astak Inc. called the Astak EZ Reader that is better to use, includes over 100 free titles, and is sort of $100 cheaper!!.

I received my EZ Reader in five working days, which was far sooner than anticipated as I paid for only the standard shipping, so that sure is a plus.

To clear things up, from what I know, the EZ Reader is literally a Hanlin V3, but with US tech support, a support internet site, free ebooks, AND all for less money!

The tangible device looks pretty discreet, and isn’t ugly like some of the devices out on the market ( cough Kindle cough).

The key layout and button controls are all really ergonomic. You can separate ebooks into different folders on your computer when you transfer them, and this makes browsing your library far easier, especially if you are an ardent reader. The entire is also reasonably light, and my hand doesn’t cramp at all when I employ for long periods of time.

The 6″ screen is fantastic and does its job. The e-ink page turning speed is also fairly quick, and the device has yet to crash or freeze up on me! Thumbs up!

I will only use my reader for mobipocket ( PRC ), MS Word DOC, and often PDFs, so these are the only formats I will address. However, the EZ Reader is compatible with lots of different formats including picture and sound files.

Mobipocket (PRC): Almost all the actual books on my device are in mobi format and the EZ Reader does a superb job showing these. One small thing is that there isn’t a bookmark feature for PRC formatted is that There are bookmarks for all other formats though.

You can simply drag and drop word documents into the EZ Reader, and they read really well.

PDF : This was one of the most significant reasons I acquired the EZ Reader. I essentially use PDF files for everything but stories, and they read the EZ Reader is an example of the better devices at showing them. This the EZ Reader has yet to freeze up on me whilst opening PDFs (unlike my Cybook), and they display very well. There are three zoom modes and image display is good.
