Digital Camera problems?

I have a digital camera (Canon IXUS i bought 4 mg pixel November 4 from a website). Only use once when I was in Las Vegas. Just after December 5 every time it was turned on the screen was black and nothing is displayed. I looked good and after her been involved in its box in a closet since then. Recently relocated to test and which remain the same. Although this happened so soon after guarantee back in 05 years is something you can do what I'm upset that only uses it once and think I flushed money down the drain.
