How I can know if my Canon lenses fit a digital camera?
I have a Canon Elan 7 and was thinking of buying the Canon 50D. I have some goals Canon to go with my camera and did not know whether it would be compatible with the digital camera I was getting. How I can know if I can change lenses with digital and film? So I know if I have to buy a lens to go with the camera or not. Thanks! I am open to any other opinion about the camera too.
Yes they are all compatible. The only Canon lenses that are not compatible with the new digitals are FD mount manual focus made prior to the advent of autofocus. These lenses all have been made before 1987. The new digital only lenses are marked EF are not compatible with the Elan or the full frame digitals like the 5D and above. There really is no reason to have more than one or two of these however. The EF 10-22mm in my opinion is that the FE only lens you need. This is because there is no objective EF is large enough crop on the sensor or APS-C sensor size of the low to mid range of Canon cameras. The only other EF lens you may want to be 18-55mm lens that comes with the Rebel cameras. However, there is a better EF models that cover this range as the EF 17-40 F4L for example. In short if they are going to work very well.

What To Consider When Buying Tripods
Tripods are an essential piece of equipment for any photographer. A tripod helps to stabilize the camera avoiding unnecessary shaking and provides a steady platform for difficult shots. But, buying a new tripod can be quite a puzzling task thanks to the numerous models available. When buying a tripod, first decide on its application. If it’s going to be used outdoors, it will need to have several additional features like a spiked base for better grip on rough terrain. Rust resistance will also be essential due to exposure to weather elements. Go for materials that are rust proof, or buy a tripod that has been painted or been given a anti-rust coating.
Another important aspect to consider when buying tripods is the ease of transport. There is no point in buying a tripod that you cannot carry. Hence the tripod should be sufficiently compact for ease of movement, yet not so small that it does not serve the purpose suitably. The weight of the tripod is an important criterion. Look for light weight tripods, usually made of aluminium or maybe even titanium for those willing to shell out the extra money. But if you will be doing quite a lot of outdoor shooting, then heavier tripods make a lot of sense as they will provide more stability. Go for reasonably priced tripods, as quality never comes cheap. Ensure that a locking system exists in the tripod that you purchase, or it could collapse accidentally during shoots. Ultimately, select a tripod that suitably meets all your needs and budget.

Most pro camera shops have rentals … but they may not be cheap in your context.
