"I can have a better camera than this?

I have a Canon PowerShot SD870 http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/canon-powershot-sd870-is/4507-6501_7-32471275.html?tag=lwrspecs And I use it mainly for photos of concerts, I've got some great shots with it as well: http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o391/Sandlewoodrose/SPPic.jpg But I'm just wondering if I could get a better camera than this, that is still compact (for sites that let in, I will take them from the crowd so no cameras professionals) and does not cost more than $ 500. Be used for rock concerts with a lot of movement, pyrotechnics and lights. You must also have the amazing sound and quality video recording as the camera i already have! I am a simple girl 15 years old, so do not need all the luxury glasses and I do not know much about cameras, I'm just getting their feet wet in the world of photography:)

Elise Great composition. If this works for you keep using it. I read that Once you reach 8 megpixels there is little gain with cameras claim 10 or 12. The lens becomes more important before going for higher resolution imaging chip. Why Why not use its budget for extra memory cards and software Photoshop or Apple Aperature? At some point you may want a camera with a zoom up close. These are a little bulky, but take great pictures with up to 18x zoom lenses depending on the brand. You can see most of these at any electonics "Big box" of about $ 350. For a "wish list" I think the new Olympus PEN-series cameras are super awesome and somthing to keep an eye on when you move to a real precision someday. They are lightweight, compact, have interchangeable lenses and have excellent high-definition video. No, I have no one but me like I did. Applause applause.
