Canon Lenses Compatibility
Canon Rebel XT Lens Compatibility?
Hello, I'm starting to get into photography and I learned that my dad has an old Minolta Maxxum 9000AF with a plethora of lenses. I want to buy a Canon Digital Rebel XT. Are the lenses that my dad has a job in my new Canon? Thanks ^ ^
Minolta lenses only work on the Sony A100 digital SLR cameras and Konica-Minolta dSLR. (It merged with Konica Minolta, Sony and then took them. KM models are quite old for now.) Still, I would not recommend using manual focus lenses. The Canon XT XTi and the new cameras are better than the Sony A100 from Canon, but only can use their own lenses, and third party (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc) specifically for Canon EF mount. I mud around ring adapters. If you use the Minolta father saves a small fortune, the Sony some consideration. Otherwse just get the Canon – is a great camera. You can find in-depth reviews on dpreview.com for both models of digital cameras and Steve (the exact links to the information in my profile).
