What is the best starting lens for Canon Digital Rebel XTi?
Going with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, but I read some comments and disadvantage is that it is disappointing at night or low light photos, has a lot of glare (whatever that is). I do not think all Canon lenses are so so, what should I go?
Well, if you do not like the Canon 18-55mm, you should go for a Nikon camera with a Nikon 18-55mm, which is higher score
But if you stick with Canon, then an alternative lens will depend on how much to spend. For the money, the Canon 18-55mm is a good lens, but it is a consumer level lens. However, used correctly, there is no reason why you can not use the Canon 18-55mm lens – AS LONG AS YOU understand the limitations and how to get around them. For example: the statement that is diappointing at night or low light shots – handheld, this objective will have a challenge in the night shooting. Heck, any lens will have issues Hand in night shooting. Here's the real difference: expensive lenses shooting at night tend to be used by professionals and serious amateurs who know how to use advanced a tripod for night shooting. Similarly, in low light shooting, the camera and the objective should be supported to keep everything stable. A better lens can not compensate for poor technique. Yes, you can get a lens with a wide aperture (faster "lens) to let more light, but it will not compensate for poor technique. A lot of glare: Use the hood. A lot of people do not use the lens hood, for some reason. And avoid shooting into the sun – you can see the light in the viewfinder. A good photographer will use the lens cover and choose shooting positions and shooting times to reduce reflection / glare. Bottom line: there is nothing wrong with Canon 55mm-18 as a starting lens. Just understand their limitations and how to work around. Do that and you will not have a problem. Later, as they identify their needs, then you can spend a lot of money on more specialized lens.

-7, Canon 50D or Nikon D300 Pentax K?
Can not decide which is a better buy. I use Nikon at work, my friend who is a professional photographer swear by Canon, the lenses are much cheaper for a pentax because the image stabilization is built into the body. Everyone seems to have good reviews and good value for money. Ps, to be honest I just want my Canon AE-1 to turn digital. 5 buttons of amazing photos, but I think that love sick to go the DSLR route
I recommend Nikon D300, a great semi-pro level. Functionality and performance.
