Canon Lenses For T1i
Two different questions for photographers?

1) are there water proof casings for canon DSLRs?
2) can someone recommend a versatile lens for different types of shooting (macro, portraits, etc) w/o having to switch between lenses?

You will have to buy a new port for each lens you plan to use. And underwater, the water magnifies the lens. A 35 mm wide angle lens becomes a “normal” lens. Since a 35 mm lens on a Canon reduced size sensor is already a normal lens, you will have to buy a 24 mm or wider lens to actually have a wide angle view underwater.

2) For macro and portrait only, yes. The AF 50 mm f/2.8 macro would be perfect. Any other use, like landscapes, group shots, action and wildlife NO. Certain lenses are designed for certain uses. There is NO universal lens. If there were it would be doing all it jobs in a mediocre manner and since you are talking about a Canon, Canon does not make mediocre lenses (except maybe for their original 18-55 mm lens which they have since addressed and corrected)

You can get away with three lenses if you want to have a minimalists camera bag.

* The afore mentioned 50 mm f/2.8 macro
* The amazing 10-22 mm wide angle zoom
* The perfect “walk-around” 18-200 mm IS zoom

Those three lenses will keep you shooting for decades

Comparison of Canon Rebel T1i and Rebel XSi

can the canon rebel eos T1i take pictures of the night sky?

i just got that camera and i tried to take pictures of the solipsist but they were all blurry. i was wondering if anyone knows how to, or if their is a lenses i can get for night sky pictures

All you need is a basic class in photography to learn how to use your fine camera.

There you will learn that “blur” is caused by camera or subject movement when the camera is set at slow shutter speeds, too slow to hand hold

For successful shooting at night with ANY fully adjustable camera will require a 1) tripod and 2) an idea of how to control the cameras exposure.
