Can I wear vintage film lenses on my Canon SLR DSLR?

I read that I could, but when I had a photo shop a bit clueless workers said no because the camera may need to digitally connect the lens to read configuration. If so, I would SOOO grateful to anyone who knows =)

Sometimes there are lens adapters to connect physically. electrical and signal connections will not be there, because the manual focus lenses have no AF signal or engines. Some adapters can "synthesize" the right signals for the camera complete the calculation can then release the trigger. You will have to determine exposure by stopping down and take the picture, and by trial and error, or calculation knowledge, unless the TTL is available and accurate. Try other high-end store. Sometimes store policy is no "third party to recommend articles which may void warranty. "Sometimes they want to sell you something that works safely and does not need much advice, service and trickery by the customer, because its wasting their time, and suffering if it will work. Sometimes I do not know.
