Canon Lenses Under 300
Canon Rebel XTi question?

Anyone have experience taking macro shots with these? Do you need a special lense to get real nice closeups?

Also, anyone who knows lenses, can you pick apart the ones on this Ebay page? Mainly I want something that’s a good telephoto lense, a wideangle and I NEED something that can do macros well. But I need it all for under $1000.

The page in question is http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-EOS-Digital-Rebel-XTi-18-55-75-300-Kit-400D-XT-i_W0QQitemZ280129776548QQihZ018QQcategoryZ147173QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Its NEVER a good idea to buy $1000 worth of optics without physically examining them. Sure you can buy with your eyes closed from reputable online stores like B&H or Adorama or even Amazon, but thats coz they have excellent return policies.

If you are VERY interested in macro you should get the EF 50mm f/2.5, or EF 100mm f/2.8 or the MP-E 65mm 1x-5x Macro. If you are really keen on a macro you need to get 1:1 true macro lenses not telephoto zooms that can also do some kinda 1:2 macro.

If you want some sort of compromise lens that does tele, wide and macro then the only one I can think of is EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6. You could then add a 25mm extension tube or a 500D close up lens for added macro.
