Canon Lenses Vs Nikon Lenses
Nikon D5000 vs. Canon EOS Rebel t1i?

(Me again!)
I’ve been reviewing both Nikon D5000 and Canon EOS Rebel t1i.

I was convinced for the Nikon but then my friend told me that the Canon might be better. So here I am! (Since you guys are so smart and helpful :D )

These sites I’ve checked out:

And now I’m not sure what way to go. Nikon or Canon?
I’m into sports, nature, wildlife and such if that helps. (I know that I do need special lenses for the best results though)

Nikon – $649.99 (Best buy)
Canon – $699.99 (Best buy)

THANKS EVERYONE IN ADVANCE, it means a lot! :)

This may be all the help you need.

As you will notice for all the extra pixels on the T1i, the Nikon D5000 sensor out performs it.

Digital Cameras sophisticated, sleek and awesome

Digital cameras are must have gadgets these days. Every one seems to have one and you can’t wait to get your hands on one of them. They seem so easy to use and convenient and you can upload all your pictures on your computer and on the net anytime. They are a major advancement from the old cameras and you no longer need to get all your pictures developed. You can just click away till your storage is full and till your battery doesn’t run out. With so many brands with a multitude of power packed features it is often difficult to decide which particular brand and model to buy. Some helpful factors are listed below: What are you going to use it for? Don’t purchase a digital camera on a whim–or because it’s on sale. It’s not a toy although you’ll definitely have fun using it once you learn how. Decide what you’re going to use your digital camera for before spending hard earned money on it. LCD size Digital camera manufacturers are making digital cameras smaller and smaller–because they can. Try to pick one that has an LCD viewing screen of at least 1.6 inches–1.8. Storage There are several forms of digital storage media cards to choose from. As with all computer hardware, be careful you’re not buying a camera that uses a card that will be discontinued shortly. Additional lenses For regular use, the zoom on most digital cameras will do nicely. But if you’re really into photography, you may want to buy a camera that can take additional lenses by means of a lens adapter unit. Type of batteries Digital cameras come equipped with a variety of batteries. If you travel a lot and want to take your camera along, you shouldn’t buy a camera that uses any sort of battery that needs to be plugged in to recharge. Voltage varies in other countries and plugging in your camera could ruin it. Many digital cameras now operate on two or four AA batteries. While it’s advisable to use AA power cells instead of regular batteries, you’ll find that these can last quite a long time if you don’t use your LCD to view your subject when taking your photos since it can drain battery life quickly. Manual vs. Automatic whether you purchase a digital camera that’s fully automatic or has manually capabilities depends on what you’ll be using it for. For typical family photos, an automatic camera will work nicely at much less cost. Fitting your budget Digital cameras come in all price ranges. Pick one that suits your needs and your budget. Some of the major players in the field of digital cameras are Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Sony and Samsung. These Companies are taking advantage of the latest technology and are manufacturing cameras with a range of features to suit different types of customers. On internet shopping sites one can check out all the features of various digital cameras. All product details are given. Customers can gather full knowledge of available products so that there is no confusion regarding the specifications, enhancements and costs. They can also gather knowledge whether the prices are competitive enough, or if there are certain discounts available on the product. One gets to choose the best deal on offer. cameras.homeshop18.com is one of the best shopping portals which gives customer satisfaction through its products, services and prices. Nikon D5000 vs Pentax K-X?

I can’t decide what I want. I love the screen on the D5000, how it moves and the optional GPS accessory, it’s ability to use all Nikon lenses, and it uses a battery pack, but I have seen the video footage shot on the Pentax K-X and it’s way nicer than the D5000. Much clearer (or maybe they are using manual focus?) Anyway, I can’t decide. It’s REALLY bugging me and I don’t know which one I should get. I don’t like sony or olympus or canon so i’m not into the low-end types. Only Nikon or Pentax will do. I was considering the T1i, but I’d hate to disown myself and buy a canon.

What do you guys recommend? I really don’t want to fuss with AA batteries, but on the same token i’d love a higher quality movie. ARGH! I need a recommendation.

I’m 22, i go to college and i love photography. I mostly use the Auto mode, but I sometimes like to experiment with settings and fool around.

Thanks!

You’re talking about apples and oranges.

Pentax is the consumer’s camera. They build affordable relatively good cameras but yiou will never see a professional using one, ever. Nikon builds cameras for the professional world.

Now that doesn’t mean the D5000 is a professional quality camera, it is an entry level model after all, but what’s nice is that as you become more demanding there’s always another camera body available to you that is even better and it will accept all the accessories you’ve already bought. With Nikon you can grow, with Pentax you eventually hit a wall.

I note one person comments that the D5000 doesn’t take all lenses, that’s true. However that’s only an issue when you get more sophisticated and by then you’ll be into at least a D90 which does take all lenses so I’d not worry about that for now. Add to that, often it’s the newer lenses that are desirable since they’re a better design so you may never buy an older lens anyway.

Finally … movies? That too is apples and oranges. The way I look at it, my Nikon SLR is a still camera, not a movie camera and I bought it to take exceptional still images, not movies. In the same way I have a digital camcorder which is designed to take amazing video. It actually has a button on it for taknig stills but I never use it, this is a video camera, the stills it take suck compared to my Nikon.

I realize you can’t afford both at the moment being in college, however I’d suggest to you that you might place a little less stress on movie capabilities and instead focus on the quality of the still images you get. Later when you’re working you can buy a camcorder which will also do a hell of a better job than that Pentax and in the meantime at least you’ll have a still camera that grows with you. Your other choice, if movies are critical to you, is to not buy a still camera at all just now, buy a camcorder instead.

I hoipe that helps a little. Good Luck!
