Zoom Lenses Canon Rebel XTi?

I just bought a new camera and lens that comes with it does not catch everything. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to find a good zoom lens (for shooting sports)? I mostly take photos of surfing and I need a good lens that is not too expensive! thanks!

Surf lenses usually means long … a telephoto lens of 300 mm, preferably more. The problem is that any 300 mm lens property on which it will not be cheap. The low cost 70-300 or 75-300 lenses will not be much good either. In the lowest cost, Sigma 70-300 APO (make sure it is the APO version!) It's the best lens low cost. If you can find a used Sigma 135-400, you may be able to choose from up to $ 300 or less. Or save your money for a while as the Canon 400 f / 5,6, close of the smallest lenses might want to use for surfing. Only $ 1,329 at B & H. The 400mm f/2.8 is only $ 7,200. Yes, seven thousand dollars. Sigma has a 120-400 for about $ 900 that is supposed to be a pretty good lens. For a little under $ 600, there is this option … http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/429082-REG/Tokina_ATX840AFDC_AF_D_80_400mm_f_4_5_5_6_Lens.html

Is there a big difference between the standard canon EF lenses compared to the range L?

I'm looking to buy a mid-range zoom IS for the 350D, Canon is worth spending the extra money to buy the 24-105L compared to the f3.5 28-135 f4-4.4 which is half the price. I been using the standard EF18-55 Kit with EF75-300 f4.5-5.6. I am satisfied with the results, but have lost a few pictures of "Shake" (I am using the speed Shutter / The equation of the focal length). So I'll see a difference with a new goal worthy.

I am in a similar position you. I started with 18-55mm EFS and I bought a EF 70-300mm (with IS) for telephoto work. The IS feature is a thing I will always from now on. So my next goal is the EFS 17-85mm IS a. As for the L (luxury) lenses … have a better glass and are built more … blah blah blah … If you had a 5D or something even better, perhaps, but to be honest with you, it would be lost on me:) If I you, I EFS 17-85mm. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ra5her/
