What should I look for in a point and shoot camera showing the speed of recovery from the pictures?

I have a DSLR and a point and shoot camera. I like the size of point and shoot and the fact that I can carry in your pocket. I also like to keep my SLR around home. I want to buy another point and shoot, because I have has about 5 seconds between the time I take a picture and the camera is ready to take another picture. Echo less images so big because I'm waiting for my camera to recover. Is there a specification that can look at when buying cameras to tell me how time takes a camera to be ready to take another picture? Or is it a couple of seconds only the best you can do with a point and shoot? PS The one I have is only one year of age and a Canon Powershot A1000. Therefore, it is not about technology.

You mean "The time for delay." Different P & S cameras have different local action groups. It is normal in the statement of cameras. Best to minimize the flash is off before turning their shots (half the button down), and the use of a full battery. My P & S has a delay of 2.3 seconds with flash and 0.7 seconds off, while My DSLR has a start-up of 0.2 seconds and a shutter lag of 40-55MS
