Canon PowerShot A1000IS?
How does the Canon PowerShot A1000 IS compared with the Canon PowerShot A590 IS. This is a newer model. Is this camera work well?
Well, Canon PowerShot A1000 is over Canon PowerShot A590 Canon PowerShot A410!
Humor aside, looking at side by side that look almost identical:% 2Ccanon_a1000is http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_a590is & show = Here are all the differences of some significance that I saw: – A1000 has a slightly larger matrix (marginal), which is a good thing, but due to the increase in MP is A590 full of sensors that anyway. A590 has a manual control over A1000, namely manual focus (largely useless LCD), opening / priority modes shutter, manual mode, the ability to have lens converters, and so on. So it's a bit more flexible in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. A1000 has a broader focus macro, macro, if it is your passion, can be a great advantage. A1000 features a slightly faster maximum shutter speed, though very slightly. A1000 A1000 has a stronger flash is slightly smaller and lighter. Notice that all the small advantages of the A1000 are actually in the marginal zone, just a little better here and there, there is no great thing to make me "upgrade" if I had A590 … but even if it is to choose between the two for me today days – I'd put my money on A590 for manual controls, and that all other differences are really marginal and perhaps not going to be important. But for someone manual skills that do not care, A1000 may be a better option. It is smaller and lighter and newer has a bit more kick in it's flash, and all that. As a matter of fact, I just give A1000 as a birthday gift to my mother, who only knows two things about photography: the camera point right general direction, then press the large silver button. "If that description fits the person who would be using the camera, really does not matter what you get between the two. A1000 I have my mother in law because it was cheaper. LEM.

How do I get my digital camera to focus better?
I have a Canon PowerShot A1000 IS digital camera and I was wondering if there is no way to get better targeting. The camera has no manual focus. It is an image stabilizer and is "on" at this time. Is it useful to turn off this feature? Or is there another way to help focus on? Thank you ….
As said before responding – ensure they are not too close to the subject. The other issue may simply be that you use a shutter speed too slow. Even with IS – try to keep your shutter speed 1/60s above (more is better). The general rule is to keep time exposure to the inverse of the focal length – For example, 50 mm 1/60s OK, but 300 mm should be 1/250th of a second (but this is difficult with a P & S camera).
