Canon PowerShot A470 wud support a memory card 8 gig? Also is this a good camera?

Currently I have a Canon PowerShot A630, 8.0 mega pixels, and I'm very happy with the Canon of mark. I've never had the need for a memory card larger than 4 GB (you can try to 8GB), and my 4gig 2gig drive without any problems. I understand that the larger the mega pixels, larger memory card can be compatible. At least 4-6 mega pixels would be prudent. In this case, bigger is better.
