My camera think that your batteries are dead, but they are not?

Hello, I have a Canon PowerShot A630 and I bought a little more a year ago. I took him snowboarding last winter and do not fall into the snow or anything, but it was pretty cool. While I was using when snowboarding, the battery has been disconnected. I did not think at the time, but now Whenever I put batteries in it is believed that the batteries are dead, whatever I put batteries in it. However, only do it when I put camera mode, not when I reviewed the images. Suggestions? I need it for my photography class and I am not able to buy a new ..

I think it needs repair, did not like the cold and snow
