Canon Powershot Battery Drain
What are you doing spending my camera batteries?
My Canon PowerShot A540 has always performed well, but in the last few days I have had to change batteries several times. I thought the batteries were bad, but what is not. Fresh Duracells were put in yesterday and took five shots – then I get the message 'change the batteries. What's happening? I normally use rechargeable, but tried a new pair of Duracells too. I usually 70-145 shots, depending on whether the screen and use the flash. I talked to Canon and it turns out there is a memory in this camera (Certain serial numbers) – that will repair so free.
I have this camera and have never had any problems with mine. Are you using the plain old alkaline batteries? They do not have enough power for use in a camera. I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable and seem to work well. Refillable If you still have a problem, I suggest you call Canon 800-OK-Canon and see if they can help. Meanwhile, do not spend much time looking at the pictures you have taken already and do not use the flash too. Both really drain the batteries quickly. In addition, we use the viewfinder to take pictures instead of the screen will help you save on batteries.

Batteries die quickly in Canon Powershot A170?
I recently received a Canon PowerShot A170, and the batteries seem to die very quickly (Like after 5 or 6 shots if the aircraft is kept). At first I was with cheap batteries, but I bought rechargeable batteries, and still seems to happen. I changed to another, if the first was defective and the batteries seem to die so quickly. Has anyone had a similar experience, or do I have the unit is somehow draining the battery? Thank you!
Digital cameras are very absorbent shocks. The Alkaline batteries do not work very well in digital cameras. Use NiMH (nickel-metal hydride). NIMH has no problems memory normally associated with rechargeable batteries. NiMH batteries are more effective than alkaline. Under strong demand, NiMH batteries deliver more energy to the camera. You will notice the difference. I can not use the Ray-O-Vac, 15 minutes battery, no problem. I keep several sets of NiMH, and run the application. Replacements may sit in the charger while you're busy taking snapshots. Lithium batteries offer the best performance. A set of batteries Lithium last few weeks of snapshots. The disadvantage is that lithium batteries are expensive and are not rechargeable.
