How do i fix my canon powershot sd 750?

So my camera’s been working for awhile now. But the other day, as i was trying to take a picture, nothing came up. the screen was pitch black. yet i could still see the icons on the side such as the ‘M’ for manual & all that other stuff. And i’m still able to view the pictures that i took before the black screen happened. So i’m assuming it’s not the screen. so what’s wrong w/ it?!

Well, you say it’s in Manual mode, maybe you have the exposure all wrong, and it’s appearing black. Since you said that you can still see other things on the screen. Just try to change the mode, and see if that makes a difference. Hope it helps?

My Canon PowerShot S2 IS digital camera has the dreaded "Black Screen" and Canon wants $ 175 to fix it.? "

Something new that is comparable is about $ 100 more. Would waste money fixing the old one, since it seems to be a fairly common problem with this device? Any suggestions for a good replacement of the device. I liked the camera until it suddenly dies.

It seems that you are not alone! Seems to be a common theme. You should be able to take a S2 used for less than $ 175. Anyway Regardless, in the link below, people have been successful calling the service center and get their image sensors replaced if there was no damage to the camera that may have caused. Call a manager in the camera / video Canon Department (1-800-828-4040). Scroll down for comments by Diane G, I think they were most helpful and got one on the repaired for free (which probably had to pay shipment of a road).
