What is a better digital camera – Canon Powershot SD 1000 or Panasonic DMC TZ2 Lumiz or 3?

I am looking for a good digital camera. After look around for what's available, I realized these two – Canon PowerShot SD 1000 – Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ2 or TZ3 (3 may not be available ..) I'm not sure to go with regret. I enjoyed handling the Panasonic in the store, and the fee can be a bit smaller than I prefer. But I've read about noise problems with the panasonic – Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? I'm still in the dark about the cameras, despite all the reading I've done! And is the Canon Powershot SD800 much better than the SD1000? It is more expensive and would not consider … but I if it is substantially better. What do you recommend? Thank you!

It makes more sense to compare the Canon SD800 IS with the Panasonic, with the SD1000. It would be "substantially better" than the SD1000 which has image stabilization and the SD1000 does not. Among the Canon SD800-IS and Panasonic TZ3, I have to leave to others or to recommend to read the comments. They are the same price at B & H Photo. The TZ3 seems a pretty solid artist, but I have no experience of it. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonictz3/page14.asp says that images are a kind of "soft and flat "due to excessive noise reduction, but would be good for average sized prints without a lot of cropping or enlargement. suggest that Looking at your sample images and decide for yourself and that is a good idea. I do not know what they plan to do with the camera. Personally, I would give up some wide-angle of the SD800 IS offers "for the TV and offered on the SD850-IS, but that's just my personal taste.
