Canon Powershot D10 Waterproof Camera
Does anyone have the Canon waterproof camera?

I am thinking of buying this, but I have a few questions:

Do they take good pictures? I am kinda trying to be a photographer so would like to be able to take really good pictures. I already have a canon digital that’s 10 mega pixels that can take great pics.

Can you zoom out far?

Does it take detailed close ups?

is it worth the money?

And any other opinions on it would be great, thanks!

If you’re taking photographs, you ARE a photographer…but this camera is not aimed at the professional market.
Check the quality of the pictures at the D10 flickr group (there’s always a flickr group)…

Click on a thumbnail to go to the photo’s page and then on “Actions” and select “all sizes” for a big image.

Not a particularly long zoom range…remember that the zoom has to be contained within the waterproof case. All the waterproof cameras have wide-to-short-telephoto zooms.

Macro lets you get to an inch or so from your subject.

Yes, it’s worth the money (though I’d prefer an Olympus Tough).

Canon Powershot D10 Waterproof Camera

Specifications: The Canon PowerShot D10 is new waterproof and weather proof compact digital camera model from Canon. It can take hi-def images with up to 12.1MP in resolution and has a 3x optical zoom. This model is waterproof up to 33ft underwater, shock proof (4 feet) and can withstand freezing temperatures of as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit. This tough little camera can also capture videos.

Design: The Canon PowerShot D10 measures at 4.1 x 1.9 x 2.6 inches and weighs at 6.7 ounces. It has a rounded, rugged exterior and is currently largely available in blue/silver color. It has a large 2.5-inch LCD display and on the front, there is a flash located right above the lens. I personally think that the design makes it looks like a toy, but many people seems to be taken with the playful, casual design.

Features & Performance: Like most of Canon’s point-and-shoot camera range, the Canon PowerShot D10 has most of the common features such as the DIGIC 4 processor, iSaps technology, face detection timer, auto contrast correction, red eye correction, image stabilizer and blink detection. The quality of the images taken was very good, thanks to its wide array of shooting modes. Some of the shooting modes include Snow, Sunset, Foliage, Aquarium, Underwater, Slow Shutter, Fireworks, Beach, Indoor, Night scene, and many more. This model does not have a lens cap so you will have to be careful to not scratch the lens. Many people, including myself, have been eagerly anticipating the release of a waterproof/weatherproof compact model from Canon for quite some time now. To put it in a nutshell, Canon has once again managed to delight us with the release of the Canon PowerShot D10.

There will be more resistant to water, freezing (etc) cameras this year?

Hey guys, I get a raincoat, of blows, but especially the freezing of the camera when you go skiing. Olympus I know that one of them, but there are ways Nooo I get a Olmypus (that I saw and heard horrible things). I liked the Panasonic Lumix until I realized they do not freeze. I also know that the Canon PowerShot D10 is freezing, but my mom will not buy one because of its bulk. So I wonder if I should wait until the end of the year or next year January is when I go skiing. Will become the new emerging? Thank you

Wait for the end of the year (eg November-SH), where more cameras will be introduced for all holidays and wholesaler / retailers receive hope about their sales figures for year and deeper reductions cameras for the holidays.
