Canon Powershot SD 1000 problem installing on Windows XP?

I bought this camera in the U.S. and tried to install on my PC (UK), without luck. in the hardware list appears with an error, and then says it can not reinstall drivers as the driver already exists. When I remove the device from the system, then turn the camera to reinstall the same error. Has anyone else had similar problems? Any advice I can give?

If you have Win XP, then there is absolutely no reason to have to install anything. You simply connect your camera via USB cable and XP is known that the camera is connected … and then just click "camera and scanner wizard" or similar … to download your photos to the PC. Just make sure the camera is off when you connect … and then just turn it on in the review / playback mode once it is. Or, if you have a reader cards, you can insert your memory card into that, then connect the USB port and download the photos to your PC that way (Win XP will recognize it as a device Removable )….. simple.

HELP! Unable to open images saved old Canon Powershot A300?

These pictures were recorded on a CD on my old computer. I put in new equipment and files are open. dat. These images are so important! I tried to go on the Canon website and they told me says that no drivers or software available for Windows XP. Any idea ho to view and save these images in a different way?
